Airsoft vs PB in Maine...
So this is just really random thoughts that have been bouncing inside my teeny tiny skull... but. Lately, pawn shops have stopped accepting paintball gear. Like the one in downtown Augusta, they had a great selection of spyders and tippmanns, and a overpriced evil omen. When I went there the other month, they stated they no longer took in paintball gear, just airsoft. The pawn shop in downtown Waterville has not had a different marker in about 6 months. Then I went to Walmart last night. They had 3 types of markers on display, and a spyder rotting quite appropriately under some tackle boxes. But they had airsoft guns in 4 different places, more boxes of bb's then pb's, and in general more airsoft stuff. Same with Kmart, more airsoft than pb.
Also, whenever I have friends over they all prefer to play airsoft rather than paintball. I don't know why, airsoft isn't half as much fun but back on topic. The point is, is this the same with stores throughout Maine or? I know Howell's used to have a small selection of paintball, including a rusted model 98 for 30 I had intended to pick up a while back, but they stopped carrying paintball also. Oh, and when Mardens got in that shipment of guns a few months back. They got in a decent bit of airsoft equipment also, but no paintball. ?

I think airsoft is more common because it is cheaper and easier for people to play. You can go to walmart and buy an airsoft gun and some bb's and play, but you can't do that with paintball. You need air, paint, a marker, goggles, etc.

A) walmart will start carrying more stuff when everything is finalized with kee
B) airsoft is gay and is for people who like to cheat and are afraid of actually being hit(just my op. but it does seem really lame)

Theres no doubt in my mind Aaron which ones funner. The only reason I have airsoft at all is I can get my friends to do around 10 short games where as after 2 to 3 five minute games of paintball my friends stop.
But ok. All key good points. Kinda sad. What will walmart stock when the kee deal goes through?

Harsh, but I really couldn't agree more. Am I subject to some paintball fanboy bias? Of course. However airsoft is a joke to me.

airsoft seems to be better suited for outlaw back yard. Stuff to operate is cheaper and easier to obtain by the muppets. Plus they seem to really get into the milsim side of things. psychos.
I like placing big green/orange/pink goobers on people and that leads to more satisfaction. They shoot bb guns. We shoot .68cal cannons.

The 3 times I went to play airsoft it was a joke. You can never tell/ get people to admit they are out and it takes forever for any action to develop. Its for the milsim people because they take it way to seriously. We ended up just walking around for four hours because we played on a field suited for 2000 people instead of the 30 that showed up.

At least some of them are organized. I'd try it if it was a big game and someone lent me a wicked nice gun and I didn't have to chase people all over the country side to shoot them. I'd still like big orange/yellow/green goobers flying and splattin on peoples more.
